Valentin Böckler started surfing when he was only six years old and he did not find a cure against the windsurfing virus until now. In the age of 15 he specialized on freestyle. He is participating in Freestyle Events and the German Windsurfing Cup. His goals are to be on top in the EFPT and PWA tour.

Concerning SUP he is no freshmen as well: He finished second at the SUP Race Fehmarn two years ago and was 21th at the 1. JEVER SUP World Cup Hamburg 2009.

One of the top riders in the German Kite surfing scene is 22 years old Rick Jensen, who has been standing on a surfboard for the first time in the age of six years. When he turned twelve years old his parents gave him a Kite surf class as a birthday present. From that point on his career increased fast. He became German Junior Champion in 2004 and in 2006 and finished as 9th at Worldcup 2006 in St. Peter-Ording.

Stand Up Paddling is one of his new Challenges in surfing. 2009, he was 10th in Jever Stand Up Paddling World Cup Hamburg in sprint distance.

Like every member of the Hönscheid family, Janni has a soft spot for every kind of water sport. The 19 year old girl, who has her roots in surfing, tried Stand Up Paddle Boarding for the first time at the coast of Fuerteventura. Since that point, you can find her SUPing whenever the weather conditions are good for doing so. In former times SUP was just an amusement for here, but she thinks, that it will gain in importance in her future life. She is very excited how her results in the JEVER SUP World Cup Hamburg will be and hopes, that this event will inspire a lot of spectators to start with Stand Up Paddling as well.

29 years old Sonni Hönscheid is known as Germany’s best female surfer. She is 12 times German Surf Champion and was the winner of the first SUP World Cup in Hamburg last year – in long distance and sprint! As a daughter of German Surfer Jürgen Hönscheid her life was almost designated to be a surfer’s life. Born on the island Sylt, she has been living in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, since she was six years old. She has a surf shop there together with her family and is often abroad for competitions and fotoshootings. If possible, she spends every minute on the water – eather surfing or on a SUP board.

15 years ago, British Jan Sleigh discovered windsurfing as his new passion during a vacation. He managed to finish University besides being a professional windsurfer and started a career in marketing and founded his own agency. Being the owner of his own agency gave him the freedom to travel around the world and to surf everywhere. In 2003 he made his dream come true to participate in every PWA Wave Event of the tour came and was on position 48 in the final rankings. Water is his favourite element and so he uses every spare minute to be on the waves. Since three years he has been doing SUP as well and finished the first JEVER SUP World Cup Hamburg 2009 as 15th.

Ten years ago French guy Abel Cathelineau chose Fuerteventura as his new home. Aprior he has been working a shipbuilder and had a surfshop in France. He wanted to live somewhere with warmer climate and moved to Fuerteventura, where he is repairing fishing boats during the day and indulging his passion in building individual surfboards and paddle during the evenings. Meanwhile he has an own label “Belway Paddles“and is bringing his visions to life in collaboration with Magma Custom Boards. Japan born Taka Kamaguchi has been windsurfing since he is 14 years old. Ernest Johnson from South California is one of the pioneers of Stand Up Paddle Boarding. He tried this sport for the first time five years ago. Shortly after, he started in the first competitions. Among other things he won 2008 Grand Prinz, finished first in the South California Racing Series 2009 and won the Catalina Challenges in the category below 14`0 foot. At the 1. JEVER SUP World Cup 2009 he finished 5th in long distance and 6th in Sprint Distance.

Besides SUP Paddle Boarding he also has a small business, where he produces handmade wooden paddle for Stand Up Paddle Boarding.

Born and raised in Cardiff, South California, Brian Szymanski worked twenty years as a surfboard designer and manufacturer. Being successful in Short- and Big-wave-boarding, he discovered Stand Up paddling a few years ago. He is not only a successful sportsman in competitions but also started to design and handcraft Stand Up Paddling boards. His goal is to create a race ready paddleboard with attributes that could be appreciated by both the novice paddlers and elite racers. Born in Barbados, Brian Talma has been a wild child. When he discovered his love for the ocean, he put all his power in surfing, which brought him great results. He is known as one of the worlds best aquatic athlete: Among other things he surfed 16 years on top of the PWA World Tour and was representing Barbados in 1988 and 1992 at the Olympic Games in Seoul and Barcelona. The father of five children has a surf shop in Barbados, which does beginner windsurfing, surfing and kite surfing lesson as well.
